Yup this is the first book finished for the year of ! I started this series last year and I must say I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
It's not the best writing in the world; however, it definitely makes for a fun read. Here are some things that I really love about this book and the series in general: -The author definitely takes the original concepts of fairy tales and flips them around making them unique and different. I love that I can literally sit down for a little while and listen to these books and fly right through them.
If you're considering reading or starting this series I would highly recommend the audiobooks. I would definitely recommend these stories.
I really do enjoy these and probably will try to finish the series this year. Nov 13, Lgourley rated it liked it Shelves: children-s-lit. When Lana swims away frightened Abby and Jonah decide they have to find her before she makes a deal with the sea witch that won't turn out so great. How would you compare and contrast the "true" story of the Little Mermaid, Sink or Swim, and the Disney version? How would you have changed this fractured fairy tale? Would you have done the same thing as Abby and Jonah? Why or why not? What is your opinion of the character Abby in this story? Do you think she needs to let fate happen or change the ending? If you could change any fairy tale story which one would it be?
How would you change it? Mlynowski, S. Whatever After Sink or Swim Vol.

Waiting for that fifth book to come out, you know?? Nov 15, Elizabeth rated it really liked it. Very fun and fast read! This is one of the few chapter books I can say that I read in one sitting. Abby got a little on my nerves He is such a fun, lighthearted character.
Whatever After #3: Sink or Swim
It made me sa Very fun and fast read! It made me sad that Abby was so mean to him at times in the story—it made me actually wonder if I would want one of my children to read this book because of how unkind she was at certain points. However, I will say that I was very happy with the ending, and Abby DOES admit that she was mean and apologizes and she and Jonah both tell each other that they love each other.
The theme is also nice in this book—that it is important to be realistic and be happy with what we are given sometimes, but also important to go after our dreams as well. And that growing up is knowing which one is right for the circumstance. I had wanted her to accept her life as is, but she wanted to fight for her dreams. Sure, sometimes you have to get what you get and not get upset. And maybe other times, you have to follow your heart and go after what you really want.
Whatever After Book #3: Sink or Swim
Take a risk. Be brave. I guess part of growing up is learning when to do which. You have to learn when the right moment is to do one or the other. Just like that. But overall, a cute, fast, fun fractured fairytale that has some good messages and funny characters. Jun 05, Veronica The Demigod rated it it was amazing. OMG I read the book before this about Cinderella and I loved it how they entered the land of Cinderella's home and totally changed the story.
In this story the two kids Abby and Jonah enter the story of the little mermaid and Lana saves the prince but he does not know it was her. The kids try to tell everyone about the mermaid but they do not believe, therefore Lana trades her tail and voice and tounge gross I know for legs. Abby and Jonah finally get the prince to ask her to marry him but whe OMG I read the book before this about Cinderella and I loved it how they entered the land of Cinderella's home and totally changed the story.
Abby and Jonah finally get the prince to ask her to marry him but when they are to get married Lana runs away and the prince marries someone else and the deal with the sea witch was that if the prince marries someone else then Lana dies. Abby and her brother are able to go to the sea witch's cave and change her mind with someone who she can go on a date with. Then when the kids reach land they see and hear that Lana has a voice again but she choose not to be a mermaid anymore.
Now thanks to Abby she can read and write she wants to be a writer and write all about her life under the sea and make the people in the prince's kingdom which is called the kingdom of mustard to believe mermaids are real and not a myth. When Abby and Jonah made it onto the beach they have to still make it home and the sea witch decides to help them and when they make it home, Abby feels like since she just was in the ocean with her brother helping him make it through she thinks she can fly out to where her grandmother lives on her own.
Her mom says she will look into it, and then Abby looks at her Jewelry box and sees Lana writing in a notebook.
